Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Matthew 7:24
In Lent, we can think about giving something up without really reflecting on what Jesus did during that time.
Not only did he make do with little to eat he gave himself over to God's will for him.
As God's people of St Mark's, we are to do the same by putting the words of Jesus into practice.
One of the many challenges facing us today is the number of people in our local community who simply struggle to meet the basic costs of living.
In a practical yet simple way, we can respond to this challenge by Reaching Out to our Community by providing food for those in need.
How you can be part of ROC...
Become part of our team taking on a specific responsibility:
If you feel the heart to do any of these roles, please speak with either the Rector or Stephen Doherty.
During the 40 days of Lent, we will focus on building the food bank and praying for the initiative. It will be after Easter when distributions will begin in earnest.
Initially, we will be working closely with members of the Glen Ward Development Association and providing support living in that area, although we are not solely workng in that area.
If you know of a family unit who is in need for support in this manner, or indeed, you yourself are in need, please get in touch with the Rector or Stephen Doherty in complete confidence.
A good attendance supports the Launch Service on Shrove Tuesday.
Hands up for the ROC!!!
Or has St Mark's gone charasmatic!??!
The trolley fills up nicely under the watchful eye of the Rector and Stephen!
And still the donations come...
An overflowing trolley to launch the ROC!
An amazing start...
BUT...
this is the beginning of this long journey!
